Manchester - the city known for partying and music, bringing us the Madchester years and bands such as the Happy Mondays and Oasis - finally got its own festival this year!
The FOM Fest saw thousands of Mancunians and festival lovers come together to socialise and party to hundreds of bands and artists.
The fest began on Friday 20th May and crowds came out, prepared with festival gear and a cheeky beer or two, to enjoy the 3 days of music madness.
A line-up of artists to rival major festivals kept crowds happy despite the cold, wet and windy weather we are so used to.
Bands included - Bad Lieutenant, The Lightning Seeds, Young Knives and Mr. Scruff as well as crowd favourites - The Whip, The Buzzcocks and The Fall.
Some of the most memorable performances were from Kid British and Twisted Wheel, as well as Badly Drawn Boy's tantrum on stage that had crowds walking out. But every festival has to have a diva!
The last night saw many headlining acts and the much anticipated performance by The Charlatans. Their performance did not disappoint and kept crowds buzzing throughout the night.
Once the live bands were done the atmoshere was not left to dwindle - The Party House had a more intimate vibe where the crowds could relax with the bands into the early hours of the morning.
The FOM Fest was the brainchild and top secret idea of Friends Of Mine. The organisation began as a club night in 2004 and has had a cult following ever since, even expanding to Liverpool and London.
But of course they stayed in the best city and brought the party to us. After a year of looking the mysterious location was revealed as Capesthorne Hall, just a 25 minute train journey from Piccadilly and 8 miles from the M6. The perfect location surrounded by trees and a Jacobean Mansion, what more could you ask for? There was more, before you ask.
In true festival style the day was used for sleeping, but if you were awake by the afternoon you could enjoy local food and drink, vintage markets and even fairground rides!
FOM Fest 2011 was definitely a festival to remember, packing up tents and leaving was the worst part. Bring on next year!
